2nd prototype ng Hybrid Electric Train, bubuuin ng DOTr at DOST

MANILA, Philippines — Nais ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) na makipagtulungan sa De­partment of Science and Technology (DOST) upang bumuo ng ikalawang prototype ng Hybrid Electric Train (HET) nito upang gamitin bilang rolling stock ng North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR).

Sa kanyang keynote speech sa Metals & Engineering Week Industry Forum na inorganisa ng DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) sa Hilton Hotel Manila kamakailan, sinabi ni Transportation Undersecretary for Railways Jeremy Regino na aprubado na ng mga Japanese consultants ng DOTr para sa NSCR pro­ject ang adoption ng HET para magamit sa natu­rang proyekto.

Sa talakayan sa pagitan ng DOTr at DOST, kasama ang mga Japanese consultants, nagkaroon na rin aniya ng consensus para sa pagbuo ng mas mahusay na bersiyon ng unang prototype ng HET, kahit pa pasado na ito sa ebalwasyon at official test runs sa Philippine National Railways (PNR).

“It was effective, efficient, safe - a good train that we could all be proud of. Proudly made by Filipinos,” bahagi pa ng talumpati ni Regino.

“We have decided, (DOST) Secretary (Renato) Solidum (Junior), MIRDC, the PNR engineers, together with our Japanese consultants who are doing the NSCR, the North South Commuter Rail. We have come to the conclusion that indeed, the hybrid trains of MIRDC and DOST are efficient, effective and a good mode of transportation for us,” dagdag pa ni Regino.

“But of course, we discussed among ourselves together with MIRDC, DOST, Secretary Solidum and (Transportation) Secretary (Jaime) Bautista, that we can improve it and come up with a se­cond prototype to make it safer for the riding public and personnel, and the operating personnel of the trains,” aniya pa.

Binigyang-diin din ni Regino na nagdesisyon na silang magsanib-puwersa upang bumuo muli ng ikalawang prototype train na maaari nilang ipagmalaki.

Una nang ipinagma­laki sa local media ni Bau­tista ang unang prototype ng HET na nasa PNR Calamba Station, sa isinagawang inspeksiyon noong Hunyo 13.

Kasama sa plano ng DOTr para sa NSCR ang pagtatayo ng 24.5-ektar­yang depot sa compound ng PNR sa Banlic, Calamba para pagsilbihan ang malawakang operasyon ng NSCR, na planong magmumula sa Calamba, Laguna hanggang Solis, Maynila.
