2 Immigration officers sibak; 'trafficking syndicate' kasabwat daw
MANILA, Philippines — Sinibak sa kani-kanilang pwesto ang dalawang opisyales ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) matapos makarating sa kawanihan ang impormasyong "kasabwat" ng sindikato ang mga nabanggit.
Ito ang ibinahagi ng Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco, Miyerkules, patungkol sa diumano'y iligal na aktibidad ng mga mga suspek sa Clark International Airport at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
"We have received information that the two have links to trafficking syndicates," ani Tansingco kahapon.
"We are initiating an investigation to verify this information, and if there is indeed probable cause, we shall file the appropriate case before the Department of Justice (DOJ)."
Ika-17 ng Enero nang pirmahan ang kautusang nagsisibak sa dalawa kaugnay ng ilang intelligence reports.
Bilang preventive measure, pansamantalang itatalaga sa back-end office duties ang dalawa habang wala pang resulta ang imbestigasyon.
"While imposing penalties would be subject to the resolution of possible cases against them, we are relieving them from frontline duty to ensure unbiased investigation," sabi pa ni Tansingco.
"The elimination of corruption is really one of my main targets in the Bureau... Any attempt to engage with corrupt practices shall be met with the harshest penalties possible."
Binalaan naman ng BI ang iba pang mga empleyadong huwag masangkot sa mga iligal na aktibidades upang maiwasan ang administrative cases, suspensyon o dismissal sa serbisyo. — James Relativo
