5-jins palaban sa gold medal

NAY PYI TAW – Nakasalalay sa huling limang jins na panlaban ng Pinas ang pag-asang makakuha ng gold sa taekwondo competition na magtatapos ngayon  matapos magkasya sina Pauline Louise Lopez at Paul Romero sa bronze medals kahapon.

Sasalang sina Mary Angelay Pelaez, Kristie Alora, Jane Narra, Francis Agojo at Kristopher Uy na hangad na makakuha ng kahit isang gold medal  para maidagdag sa ginto nina Jade Zafra mula sa women’s under 57kg at men’s poomsae team na kinabibilangan ng magkapatid na sina Djustin at Raphael Mella at Vidal Marvin Gabriel.

Natalo si Lopez kay Thanh Thao Nguyen ng Vietnam, 0-4 sa women’s under 53kg category habang naungusan si Romero sa 4-6 decision ni Ryan Chong Wu Lunn ng Malaysia sa men’s under 63kg semifinals sa Wunna Theikdi Stadium dito.

Natalo si Lopez sa mas agresibong Vietnamese, na nagpakawala ng mabibilis na sipa sa kanyang katawan.

“She’s always on the attack but Pauline got hit in the body several times,” sabi ni Roberto Cruz, mentor ng 18-gulang na si Lopez, gold medalist sa second Asian Youth Games dalawang buwan na ang nakakaraan.

Binasag ni Romero ang 6-all iskor sa tatlong clear blows  upang igupo si Mohammad Fathullah Mohammad Taib ng Brunei, 9-6, ngunit natalo kay Malaysian Riyan Chong Wy Lunn at nagkasya sa broze.
