Ano ang naghihintay sa Los Angeles Lakers?

LOS ANGELES -- Matapos tiisin ang isang roller-coaster season na inilarawan ni Hall of Famer Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson bilang ‘one of the worst’ sa kanilang fran­chise history, nagkakamot ng kanilang ulo ang mga Los Angeles Lakers fans ukol sa susunod na mangyayari.

Ikinunsiderang championship contenders ma­tapos mabuo ang isang star-studded lineup para sa 2012-13 campaign, nawalis ang Lakers ng San Antonio Spurs sa kanilang first-round playoff series.

Ito ang unang pagkakataon sa loob ng 46 na nasibak sila sa post-season.

Ang Lakers ang sinasabing hahamon sa itinalang re­cord na 72 panalo ng Chicago Bulls sa 1995-96 re­gular season.

Sa kabila ng pagpaparada kina All-Stars Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard at Steve Nash, nalasap pa rin ng Los Angeles ang 45-37 record.

Bagamat tinapos nila ang regular season sa isang 28-12 run patungo sa playoffs bilang seventh-seeded team, nagkaroon naman si Bryant ng isang Achilles ten­don injury.

“Dwight Howard that was a big No, No. Your team­mates and the fans were counting on you,” ani John­son sa kanyang Twitter account. “Dwight, I’ve been swept before but I never let my team down by getting kicked out of the game.”

Nakatuwang ni Johnson si Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sa paggiya sa Lakers sa ‘Showtime’ era mu­la 1979 hanggang 1989.
