17th Asia Masters Athletics Championships 3 gold medals kay Lavandia

CHINESE-TAIPEI-- Hinirang si Erlinda Lavandia  bilang atleta ng Team Philippines na may pinakamaraming gintong medalyang kinuha sa 17th Asia Masters Athletics Championships.

Ito ay matapos niyang angkinin ang kanyang ikatlong gold medal nang pagreynahan ang hammer throw event sa Taipei City Sports Park.

Naghagis ang 60-anyos na si Lavandia ng distansyang 24 meters sa hammer throw competition para sa women’s 60-64 years old division.

Una niyang sinikwat ang dalawang gold medals sa javelin throw at shot put events.

Tinalo ni Lavandia sa hammer throw event sina Seki Meriko (19.16 m) at Sato Hiroko (17.71 m) ng Japan.

May kabuuang 8 golds, 7 silvers at 5 bronze me-dals ang koponan.

Ang huling dalawang bronze medals ng bansa ay mula sa pagtatapos sa ikatlo ng women’s relay teams.

Nakasama ni Lorna Vejano, pumalit sa may injury na si Elma-Muros Posadas, sa pagpitas ng women’s team sa tansong medalya sa 4x100 relay sa women’s 45-49 years old event sina Salve Bayaban, Perla Lobos at Aurora Ramos.

Nagsumite ang grupo ng oras na isang minuto at 2.40 segundo sa likod ng Thailand (1:02.06) at India (1:02.28).

Ang women’s 4x100 relay team sa 35-39 years old ay binuo nina Lerma Bulauitan-Gabito, Elenita Punelas, Rosejean Yparraguirre at Victorina Calma ay nagtala ng 1:00.14 sa ilalim ng India (58.21) at Japan (58.42).

Ito ang pinakamagandang pagtatapos ng Pinas sa tournament na ito ayon kay delegation head at National Masters and Seniors Athletic Association of the Philippines (NMSAAP) president Manny Ibay.

Nagpadala si PSC Chairman Ritchie Garcia ng congratulatory message sa koponan na nagsabing “job very well done!”

Bukod sa tatlong gold medals ni Lavandia, naghatid din si Bulauitan-Gabito ng dalawang gold medals mula sa (100-m at long jump for women’s 35-39 years old), at tig-isa mula kina Muros-Posadas sa (100-m, women’s 45-49 y.o.), Aurora Ramos (long jump, women’s 50-54 y.o.) at Emerson Obiena (pole vault, men’s 45-49 y.o.).
