MANILA, Philippines — Kaagad mapapalaban si national boxing team standout Eumir Felix Marcial.
Tatlong professional fights ang inilalatag ng MP Promotions ni Manny Pacquiao para sa 24-anyos na amateur sensation bago ang kanyang kampanya sa 2021 Olympic Games sa Tokyo, Japan.
Ito ang sinabi kahapon ni Sean Gibbons, ang MP Promotions president, sa webcast edition ng Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum.
“We hope to possibly have about three fights because we have a year before the Olympics,” wika ni Gibbons kay Marcial. “Hopefully, we’ll do something in October and then we’ll work from there. Hopefully, about three fights before has to stop and go fully concentrate on the Olympics.”
Kamakailan ay lumagda si Marcial ng isang six-year contract sa MP Promotions ni Pacquiao, ang tanging world eight-division champion.
Sa middleweight division pa rin lalaban ang tubong Zamboanga City sa kanyang pag-akyat sa professional ranks.
“Iyong middleweight talagang fit sa akin. Medyo overweight ako ngayon, pero diyan ‘yung talagang kondisyon ang katawan ko sa middleweight,” wika ni Marcial.
Nilinaw ni Gibbons na ilalaban muna nila si Marcial, magsasanay sa Los Angeles, California, sa mga four-rounders at six-rounders.
“We’re trying to keep in line with what he’s gonna be doing in Tokyo (Olympics). So everything is gear towards preparation for that. And that’s why you start off in a four or six rounder and another four or six rounders,” ani Gibbons.
Bukod kay Marcial, ang iba pang nakakuha ng tiket para sa 2021 Tokyo Olympics ay sina lady boxer Irish Magno, pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena at gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo.
