Reyes-Amit duo idedepensa ang World Mixed doubles crown

MANILA, Philippines - Muling magtatambal sina Efren “Bata” Reyes at Rubilen Amit para sa pagdedepensa ng kanilang korona sa 2nd World Mixed Doubles Billiards Cham­pionships na nakatakda bukas sa Hangzhou, China.

Sina Reyes at Amit ang nagkampeon sa torneo no­ong 2009 matapos talunin sina Korean tandem Charlie Williams at Eun Ji Park upang sikwatin ang $6,000 winner’s purse.

Sina Reyes at Amit ay makakasama nina San Mi­guel Beer Octoberfest 9-Ball Open champion Lee Vann Corteza at 26th SEA Games double gold meda­list Iris Ranola.

Nasa torneo rin ang mga bigating sina 2011 World 10-ball champion Kelly Fisher katambal si Tommy Donlon ng Great Britain, Johnny Archer at Jeanette Lee ng Team USA, Mika Immonen at Marika Poikkijoki ng Team Finland, Chao Fong Pang at Tsai Pei Chen ng Team Chinese-Taipei at Li He Wen at Fu Xiao Fang ng host Team China.

Sina Reyes at Amit ay nakapag-ensayo nang matagal kumpara sa ibang tambalan.

Inaasahan ring gagawa ng eksena sina Orcollo at Ranola, tumumbok ng dalawang gintong medalya sa women’s 8-ball at 9-ball singles sa nakaraang 2011 SEA Games sa Palembang, Indonesia.

Si Amit ang kumuha ng silver medal sa 9-ball matapos matalo kay Ranola, habang kinuha ni Reyes ang dalawang bronze medals sa 1-cushion at 3-cushion carom events.

“I’m excited to again be paired up with my idol Efren Reyes,” sabi ni Amit. “I’m looking forward to playing some of the best players in the World.”

Ang top prize na $15,000 mula sa total purse na US $40,000 ang nakata­ya sa torneo.
