AN EVENING WITH THE GENERAL. After so many years, I met again my former classmate at the USPF-Lahug Brig. Gen. Ernesto R. Aradanas, AFP who is currently assigned at the Office of Strategic and Special Studies of the Department of National Defense. A math wizard in our class during our high school days, Gen. Aradanas is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in 1979 Class Matapat and upon his graduation, he was among the officers who was trained with the Green Beret special forces at the Fort Bennings, Georgia and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He sometimes play golf and tennis during free time. It came to me as surprise when Gen. Aradanas sent me a text message inviting me to a simple dinner at their residence last Sunday, July 24 which actually turned out to be the birthday of her mommy Ana. Together with his amiable wife Armie and brother Laureano Aradanas, Jr., only two other former classmates were present and they were Elemelech “Nonoy” Parcon and Mario Castrodes whose wife Mary Jane celebrated her birthday last July 25. The last time I met Erning was when he was still a captain assigned at the Upper Kalarian, Zamboanga del Norte.

MISCELLANEOUS. Congratulations to Judge Raphael Yrastorza for his election as the University of San Carlos (USC) South Campus PTCA executive board president. The other members of the executive board are Cesar Ortega as vice president:; Mai Lagumbay, secretary; Mrs. Dominica Nacua, treasurer; Mrs. Melianita Quirante, auditor and PIO’s Allan Dinampo and yours truly. Congrats also to all homerooms presidents and to the faculty members who helped in facilitating the elections. Belated 78th birthday to my relative Romeo G. Malagar of Consolacion, Cebu last July 22, greetings coming from your loving daughter Dr. Vilma M. Lastimosa, an OB-Gyne and from your son-in-law Dr. Roy Lastimosa.  - BANAT NEWS
