MANILA, Philippines - Posible pang magbalik sa bansa ang siyam na NBA stars na naglaro sa Smart Ultimate All-Star Weekend sa Araneta Coliseum.

“It’s a tremendous ho­nor to play here. Thank you for the love and sport and passion you have in the sport. I hope this will not be the last,” wika ni five-time sco­ring champion Kobe Bryant ng Los Angeles Lakers.

Si Bryant ang tuma­yong coach ng NBA stars na sumagupa at nanalo sa PBA selection ni Chot Reyes at Smart Gilas Pilipinas ni Rajko Toroman.

Gusto rin ni two-time scoring champion Kevin Durant ng Oklahoma City Thunder na muling mapa­sama sa nasabing two-day exhibition series.

“It’s one of the best days in my life,” wika ni Durant matapos ang 98-89 panalo ng NBA team sa Nationals. 

Ayon kay Reyes, ang MVP Sports Foundation executive director at naging instrumento sa pagdadala sa grupo nina Bryant, Durant, Derrick Rose at Chris Paul sa blockbuster weekend, malaki ang posibilidad na muli itong mangyari.

“Some said we couldn’t bring these NBA stars but we did. And you’re all wit­ness to this ultimate weekend, we made the impossible possible,” sabi ni Reyes, ang PBA selection ay natalo sa NBA stars, 105-131, noong Sabado.

Nakatakdang umuwi sa United States ang mga NBA players ngayong gabi.

Samantala, nakatakdang sumabak ang Natio­nals sa Jones Cup sa Agosto 6-14 sa Chinese-Taipei.

Makakasukatan ng Smart Gilas ang Asian powerhouse na Jordan sa Agosto 6 kasunod ang United Arab Emirates sa Agosto 7 bago ang isang one-day rest sa naturang nine-team tournament.

Susunod na makakalaban ng Smart Gilas ang South Korea sa Agosto 9, ang South Africa sa   Agosto 10, ang Japan sa Agosto 11, ang Malaysia sa Agosto 12, ang host Chinese Taipei sa Agosto 13 at ang two-time Asian champion sa Agosto 14.
