MANILA, Philippines - Bagamat hindi maka­kadalo si Pangulong Benig­no “Noynoy” Aquino III sa opening ceremony, sapat na ang suportang ibinigay nito para sa pagbabalik ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) - Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Philippine National Games (PNG) ngayong taon.

Ito ang inihayag kaha­pon ni PSC Commissioner Jolly Gomez kaugnay sa nalalapit na 2011 PSC-POC PNG na nakatakda sa Mayo 23-29 sa Bacolod City.

 Bukas sa lahat ng Filipino athletes ang nasabing sports event na magsisilbing basehan ng paghugot ng mga bagong miyembro ng national team na ma­aaring ilahok sa Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games at Olympic Ga­mes, ayon kay Gomez.

Ang 2011 PSC-POC PNG ay gagastusan ng sports commission ng P30 milyon kung saan halos 8,000 atleta mula sa 17 rehiyon ang lalahok, kasama rito ang 800 miyembro ng national team.

Kabuuang 36 sports events ang nakalatag para sa naturang national event na ikakalat sa Bacolod City, Bago City, Talisay City at Silay City.

Idaraos sa Bacolod City ang 5K at 10K marathon, athletics, badminton, beach volleyball, billiards, equestrian, fencing, gymnastics, judo, karatedo, lawn tennis, motorcycle sports, sai­ling, soft tennis, swimming, taekwondo, volleyball, wall climbing, weightlifting, wind surfing at wrestling.

Nasa Bago City naman ang canoe kayak, dragon boat, muay thai at wushu, habang ang baseball, road cycling, futsal, football, penkak silat, softball at table tennisay gagawin sa Talisay.

Sa Silay City gagawin ang archery, arnis, sepak ta­kraw at triathlon.
