Guirado, De Guzman siblings out na sa Azkals

MANILA, Philippines - Hindi makakalaro sina Fil-Spanish Juan Luis Guirado at magkapatid na Fil-Canadian Jonathan at Julian de Guzman para sa laban ng Phl Azkals sa Sri Lanka sa 2014 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Ito ang inihayag ni team manager Dan Palami ukol sa 31-anyos na midfielder na si Guirado dahil sa paglalaro nito sa Spanish Division III club Lermeno ng Burgos.

Ang Toronto-born De Guzman siblings naman ay may eligibility issues na hinaharap.

Naglaro na si Julian ng Toronto FC sa Major Lea­gue Soccer para sa Canadian men’s squad, habang si Jonathan ng RCD Mallorca ay kumampanya sa Netherlands’ U21 at U23 sides.

“Angel’s brother wants to represent the Philippines but has prior commitment to his club,” pahayag ni Palami. “As to the De Guzmans, one of them (Julian) already played for another nation while the other (Jonathan) is being eyed by another nation that has a stronger chance to make it to the World Cup (final stage).”

“So for this particular tie (Sri Lanka), they will not be joining the Azkals,” dagdag pa nito.
