Bustamante, kampeon sa Japan 9-ball

MANILA, Philippines - Nagpamalas ng supremidad sa tako si Francisco ‘Django’ Bustamante upang igupo ang kababayang si Antonio Lining, 11-7 sa all-Filipino finals at tang-haling kampeon sa 2009 All Japan 9-Ball Championship na ginanap sa Hotel New Archaic Hall sa Amagasaki-shi, Hyogo, Japan.

Dahil sa panalong ito, naibulsa ni Bustamante, dating No. 1 pool player sa mundo, ang may P800,000 premyo. Ito rin ang ikalawang titulo ni Bustamante makaraang isubi ang korona sa PartyCasino.net World Cup of Pool na ginanap sa SM North Edsa Mall nitong Setyembre katambal si Efren “Bata” Reyes.

Bago umakyat sa championship round, dinispatsa ni Bustamante si dating WPA World junior champion Ko Pin-yi ng Chinese-Taipei, 11-8, at kababayang si Warren “Warrior” Kiamco, 11-9, sa semis.

Ang kabiguan ni Kiamco ang nagbigay sa kanya ng P400,000 habang tig-P200,000 naman sina Lining at Kuo Po Cheng ng Chinese-Taipei sa torneong nilahukan ng mga bigatin tulad nina double world champions (WPA 9-ball at WPA 8-ball ) Efren “Bata” Reyes at Ralf Souquet ng Germany, dating All Japan champion Lee Van Corteza, dating WPA 9-ball runner-up Chang Pei Wei ng Chinese-Taipei, Hijikata Hayato at Keisuke Hanawa ng host country.
