Mas masiglang NCAA ang inaasahan

MANILA, Philippines – Sa partisipasyon ng 3 guests school na lalahok sa pinakamatandang collegiate league sa Pilipinas, muling pasisiglahin ang kumpetisyon sa pagbubukas ng 85th season ng National Collegiate Athletic Association na inaasahang magsisimula sa susunod na buwan.

Sa pamumuno ni NCAA Management Committee (MANCOM) chairman Jose Mari Lacson na sumuri sa bawat detalye ng liga, tinalakay sa lingguhang PSA Forum na ginanap noong Martes sa Shakey’s U.N Avenue branch, kung saan iho-host ng San Beda College.

Sa June 27, pormal na magbubukas ang liga sa Araneta Coliseum kabilang ang centerpiece event ng Arellano University, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Angeles University Foundation bilang guest teams.

“Usually when you have guest teams, they are not allowed to compete for the championship. But we want them to be competitive. So the MANCOM ruled that they too, can win the championship,” dagdag pa ng San Beda official.

Bukod sa basketball, kinakailangang ring maglaro ang 3 koponan sa limang regular events tulad ng swimming, volleyball, football, track and field at cheer dance competition.

Sa ilalim ng temang Winning Drive at 85”, sinisiguro ng multi titled commissioner na si Aric Del Rosario na mas magiging maaksyon at masaya ang liga ngayong taon na dinagdagan pa ng ibang sports tulad ng chess, taekwondo, beach volleyball at soft tennis bilang demonstration sport.

“Kung maging maganda ang showing nila, baka mapadali pa nga ang status nila to become a regular member of the NCAA,” pahayag ni Lacson sa ligang hatid ng Shakey’s, Accel, Philippine Amusements and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) at Outlast Battery. (Sarie Nerine Francisco)
