Women's World 10-Ball

MANILA, Philippines – Pangungunahan nina Allison Fisher ng Great Britain at Austrian Jasmin Ouschan ang mga pambato ng Europe sa nalalapit na Women’s World 10-Ball Championship sa June 2-6 sa SM City North Edsa sa Quezon City.

Ang dalawa ay kabilang sa seeded players sa 48-man main draw sa historic event na ito na hatid ng Dragon Promotions sa tulong ng JBETpoker.net, ABS-CBN, Bugsy Promotions at sanctioned ng Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) at Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP). Si Fisher ay kinukunsiderang isa sa pinakamahusay na babaeng billiards player sa kasaysayan matapos manalo ng 72 world class titles.

Naging dominante sa No. 1 o No. 2 spot sa loob ng sampung taon at tinalo na rin niya sina USA Champion Johnny Archer, Hall of Famer Allen Hopkins, at former US Open Champion Tommy Kennedy.

Kung si Fisher ay alamat na sa women’s pool, si Ouschan ay top rising star.

Tinalo na rin niya sina World Champion Mika Immonen at Oliver Ortmann. Siya ang may hawak ng  record highest ng isang babae sa major men’s event na tumapos ng  3rd sa 2008 World Straight Pool Championship.

Ang iba pang top favorites sa west sina 2008 Women’s Player of the Year Kelly Fisher (England), Gerda Hofstatter (Austria), Spanish Champion Amalia Matas, at dating No.1 Karen Corr (Ireland). Si Corr ang kinokonsiderang pinakamahigpit na kalaban ni Fisher sa women’s tour.

Ang Philippines ay pangungunahan ni 2007 Women’s World 9-Ball runner-up Rubilen Amit at ang 2008 US Open second-placer Iris Ranola. (Mae Balbuena)
