5 golds pa sa Laguna

Cagayan de Oro - Muling humakot ang Laguna ng lima pang gintong medalya sa centerpiece athletics, tatlo pa sa swimming at isa sa badminton kahapon upang mahigitan ang General Santos City at Manila sa 3rd Philippine Olympic Festival National Championships sa Don Gregorio Pelaez Sports Complex dito.

Nakipag-pareha si Banjo Borja, dating 16-year-old Palarong Pambansa multi-gold medallist kina Devron Bondad, Joshua Desamero at Robert Estrellado upang dominahin ang 200-meter medley relay sa tiyempong dalawang minuto at 5.61 segundo.

Dinomina naman ni Joshua Casino ang 400m freestyle habang nanguna naman ang mixed squad nina Jasper at Joshua Casino, Catherine Bondad at Joana Colleen Bondad sa 200m medley relay para sa ginto.

Ito ang ikapitong ginto na nilangoy ni Borja matapos na bumandera sa 100m at 200m backstroke, 100m at 200m breaststroke at 400m individual medley namuno sa 200m freestyle relay team sa event na ito na inorganisa nina POF chair Robert Aventajado at Misamis Oriental Gov. Oscar Moreno.

Sa track, sumandig naman ang Southern Tagalog sa panalo nina Cecille Constantino (400m hurdles), Salvador Garin, Jr. (800m at 1,500m), Aleah Gatmaitan (100m hurdles) at sa girls’ 4x400m relay habang ang kanilang    panalo sa badminton ay mula kay Patricia Barredo sa singles.

At ang panalong ito ay sapat na upang manatili ang Laguna sa unahan taglay ang 40-gold, 22-silver at 25-bronze medal haul kung saan hindi pa kabilang dito ang mga inaasahang ginto na makukuha sa arnis, taekwondo at archery kasama ang beach volleyball, softball at football.

Mahigpit naman na nakabuntot ang General Santos, ang Mindanao Qualifying Games champion, taglay ang 40-29-23 harvest.
