Sisikapin ng mga Filipino bets na makuha ang karamihan sa kabuuang 17 gintong medalyang nakalatag ngayong araw para sa pagsisimula ng 2008 MILO National Open Track and Field Championships sa Rizal Memorial track oval.

 Kabilang sa mga national athletes na inaasahang aagaw ng eksena ay sina long distance specialist Mercedita Manipol, hurdlers Grace Melgar at Sarah dela Virgo, sprinter Sharon Gesmundo, ang 4x4 team nina Jimar Aying, Jun Rey Bano, Rodrigo Tanuan at Benigno Marayad, long jumpers Esmeraldo Pacheco at Teodoro Nonato.

 Ang  mga unang events ngayong umaga ay ang women’s discus throw, long jump, pole vault at high jump at ang 3000-meter run kasunod ang men’s 110m hurdles at 5000m run, ang boys’ and girls’ 5000m, 3000m, pole vault, at 110m hurdles.

Makakalaban ng mga Filipino pride ang mga pambato ng Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong at Korea.

 Maglalahok ang Korea ng anim na atleta, kabilang na rito ang dalawang 16-anyos, tig-lima ang Malaysia at Indonesia at apat sa Hong Kong, Thailand at Sri Lanka.

 May mga lahok rin ang Armed Forces of the Philippines, TMS Shipping, La Salle, College of St. Benilde, Far Eastern U, University of the East, University of the Philippines, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Tangub City, Dagupan City, La Union, Pampanga at Bulacan. (RCadayona)
