Walang kawala sa Manila

Muling inangkin ng Manila ang korona sa pagsasara ng 2nd Manila Youth Games National Invitational habang tinanghal namang "Best Athlete" ang 12-anyos na si Rhealyn Pascua ng Candon City sa pagsasara ng kompetisyon kahapon sa San Andres Sports and Civic Center.

Nagtala si Pascua ng 48 puntos mula sa kanyang tatlong gintong medalya sa girl’s 12-under 100-meter dash, long jump at baseball throw.

Nagsubi rin si Pascua, anak ng isang security guard, ng apat na silver (50m dash, discuss throw, 4x100m relay at 4x400m relay) at isang bronze (200m run).

"We are very proud of her efforts considering how hard the competition is in the 2nd MY Games National Invitational," ani Candon City Mayor Allen Singson, pamangkin ni Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson, kay Pascua.

Inalok ni Manila Sports Council (MASCO) chief Ali Atienza ng scholarship sa anumang high school sa Maynila.

Matapos ang isang linggong kompetisyon, nagsubi ang mga Manilenyo 56 gold, 47 silver at 38 bronze medals para sa kanilang ikalawang sunod na overall title.

Pumangalawa ang Quezon City na may 30-23-26 gold-silver-bronze na produksiyon kasunod ang Muntinlupa (12-18-13), Baguio City (12-15-10), Laguna (10-6-8), Candon City (7-12-7),  Parañaque (5-5-11), Taguig (5-4-8), Cavite (5-2-7), Valenzuela (3-2-3), Tuguegarao (2-1-2), General Santos City (2-0-0), Mandaluyong (1-0-0), Nueva Ecija (1-0-0) at ang Rizal (1-0-0).

Nakakuha pa ng ginto kahapon ang Big City mula kina Regine Lumbo, Casia Pineda, Philip John Pineda, Amee Payno, Reychelle Esturco at Kiri Balbosa sa taekwondo competition sa San Andres gym. (MBalbuena)
