Severino at iba pang RP Para Gamers kikilalanin ng PSA

Magsasalo-salo sa limelight ang multiple gold medal winner na si Sander Severino at iba pang miyembro ng matagumpay na Team Philippines sa 3rd ASEAN Para Games bilang top sports achievers ng 2005 na paparangalan ng Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) sa annual awards night sa Enero 14 sa Manila Pavilion.

Si Severino, FIDE Master at dating national kiddies champion, ang naging most bemedalled Filipino athlete sa weeklong meet para sa mga differently-abled athletes, sa pagkopo ng limang gold medals sa individual at team events para pamunuan ang sixth place finish ng RP team.

Ito ang dahilan para mapasama ang Silay City, Negros Occidental sa 21 major awardees na kikilalanin ng pinakamatandang media organization ng bansa na binubuo ng mga sportswriters mula sa mga national broadsheets at tabloids.

Bibigyan naman ng citation ang buong Para Games RP contingent tna nagsubi ng kabuuang 22 gold, 41 silver at 37 bronze para sa best finish ng bansa sa biennial meet.

"It is only fitting that we also recognized the honor which our differently-abled brothers had given to the country in the recent 3rd ASEAN Para Games," ani PSA President Jimmy Cantor ng Malaya.

Nangunguna sa honor roll list ay ang Team Philippines, na napiling PSA Athlete of the Year dahil sa makasaysayang overall title sa nakaraang 23rd Southeast Asian Games.
