Walang gapangan sa boto ng NSAs

Niliwanag ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) chairman Robert Aventajado na hindi nila ‘gagapangin’ ang boto ng mga National Sports Associations (NSAs) para sa pagpapatalsik sa Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) bilang miyembro.

"We’re not out to get the votes. We are here to count the votes kasi desisyon ‘yan ng general member-ship ng General Assembly," wika ni Aventajado.

Ang pagbilang ng POC ng boto ng 38 NSAs at isa kay Inter-national Olympic Committee (IOC) representative Francisco Elizalde ay gagawin sa itinakdang special General Assembly sa Hunyo 30.

Sa kabuuang 39 boto, two thirds o 30 ang kailangang makuha ng POC para tuluyan nang sibakin ang BAP bilang miyembro.

Ayon kay Aventajado, bibig-yan pa rin ng POC Executive Committee ng tsansa ang BAP, pinamumunuan ngayon ni dating Laguna Governor at Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Joey Lina, na maka-pagpaliwanag kung bakit hindi sila dapat patalsikin.

"They will be given the chance to prove to the POC on why the POC should continue recognizing them," sabi ni Aventajado.

Sakaling masibak na ang BAP, inaasahan namang kikilalanin ng POC ang binubuong Philippine Basketball Confederation, Incor-porated (PBFI).

Ipinagpaliban ng PBFI ang kanilang eleksyon noong Huwebes. (Ulat ni Russell Cadayona)
