Isa pang Fil-Am swimmer inaasinta

ATHENS-Kung sakaling maipursige ang negosasyon, magkakaroon ang Philippines ng ‘explosive’ performer sa susunod na taong Southeast Asian Games at sa Doha (Qatar) Asian Games sa taong 2006.

At ang naturang atleta ay walang iba kundi si Nathalie Coughlin, world record-holder sa 100-meter backstrokes na ang ama ay isang Amerikano at Pinay ang ina.

"There are still some points of discussion, but I think we have a good chance of getting her to swim in the SEA and Asian Games," wika ni PASA secretary general Chito Rivera na siya ring responsable para sa karagdagan ng 18-anyos na Fil-American na si Jacklyn Pangilinan sa RP swimming team dito.

Sinabi ni Philippine Olympic Committee president Celso Dayrit na nakipag-usap na siya sa USOC (United States Olympic Committee) at wala naman umanong nakikitang problema. At kung sakali mang pu-mayag si Coughlin na lumangoy para sa Philippines, sinabi ni Rivera na maaari itong manalo ng hindi bababa sa tatlo hanggang apat na medalyang ginto para sa bansa sa Asian Games.

Si Coughlin ay ranked No. 1 sa back-stroke competition dito.
