Manila Youth Games alay sa kabataan

Dahil nakatuon ang atensiyon sa kabataan, layunin ng City Government of Manila na maituro sa kabataan ang kahalagahan ng sports at ng tunay na athletic competition sa nalalapit na 2nd Manila Youth Games na nakatakda sa Abril 6-13 sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

"It has always been said that the Youth is the hope of the nation. That is why in the MYG, we are focusing on the youth by providing them an endeavor that would guide their path towards becoming assets of society," pahayag ni Manila Mayor Lito Atienza.

Ang impresibong performance ng Manila sa Philippine National Youth Games-Batang Pinoy ng Philippine Sports Commission ang naging inspirasyon ng big city na magkaroon ng kanilang sariling developmental program para sa mga kabataang atleta na may edad na 12-gulang at pababa.

May 4,000 children-athletes, coaches at officials ang nakibahagi sa unang pagtatanghal ng MYG noong nakaraang taon at inaasahan ng organizer na Manila Sports Council na dodoble ito sa ikalawang edisyon ng palarong ito na muling susuportahan ng PSC.

Ayon kay MASCO chief Ali Atienza, anak ng Mayor, magkakaroon ng 13-15 age bracket ang 2nd MYG na inaasahang magpapalobo ng bilang ng mga partisipante na manggagaling sa 895 barangays at 130 public at private schools ng buong lungsod.
