Torch relay inilunsad

Inilunsad kahapon ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) at Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) kasama ang Samsung Electronics Phils. Corps ang Project: Nationwide Torch Relay kahapon sa Holiday Inn Manila Pavilion.

Ang 17-araw na island-hopping na may temang "The Nation Rallies Behind Team Philippines" ay magsisimula bukas sa September 5 ay naglalayong pagbukludin ang lahat ng sector sa pagsuporta sa atletang Filipino na makikipaglaban para sa gintong medalya sa nalalapit na Asian Games.

Magsisimula ang torch run na pangungunahan ng mga kinatawan ng 30 National Sports Associations (NSAs) sa Makati City.

"Finally, the common folk could now express their support to our athletes by joining the torch run. For those who cannot run with the athletes, a simple wave from the sidestreet would give our athletes a big amount of inspiration as they strive to win medals in Busan," pahayag ni Dayrit.

"An athlete once said he gets a lift every time he hears a compatriot cheering for him. I will be among the crowd when the first torch is lift and will join our brothers in cheering for Team Philippines. We are joining hands to make our athletes feel they have the support of the Filipino people," wika naman ni Buhain.

Ang nationwide torch run ay magsisimula sa September 6 sa Davao City para sa Mindanao leg at September 8 para sa Visayas torch habang ang North Luzon Torch ay sisindihan naman sa September 10 na maglalakbay pa-tungo sa Luneta kung saan magtatapos ang torch run sa Grandstand sa September 22.

"We are proud to support this endeavor and Samsung is one with the POC and PSC in its effort to unite all forces in support for the Filipino athletes bound for Busan," pahayag naman ni Samsung president San Youl Eom.
