MANILA, Philippines — Actress-vlogger Jelai Andres has broken her silence on the long-running controversy involving her former husband, Jon Gutierrez, also known as King Badger, days after their annulment was finalized.

Jelai spoke up in a Facebook post after confirming that her marriage to the Ex Battalion member had been annulled, which once again brought renewed attention to the issues that allegedly led to their separation.

Among the controversies that resurfaced were allegations that Jon was unfaithful during their marriage.

Jelai admitted that she initially did not want to revisit the painful chapter of her life, but said she felt compelled to speak after what she described as inaccurate versions of their story began circulating online.

“Clear ko lang about sa rumors going around again. Ayaw ko sana 'to. Dahil hindi ako ganito. Hindi ako pala salita o pala patol kahit sa sarili ko nang issue. But I think kailangan ko mag-salita kahit minsan lang,” Jelai said.

“Dahil tutal na-open naman na ’to ngayon at may maling story na naman kasi na lumalabas at nagtre-trending,” she added.

Jelai said painful experiences can serve as life lessons, stressing that being hurt does not automatically make someone a victim or free them from accountability for their actions.

“Nasaktan ka, well probably. But that does not automatically mean you are completely innocent, and calling yourself a victim doesn’t erase the consequences of the choices you made. Yes, we call it CONSEQUENCES, FYI,” she said.

The actress-vlogger explained that she had deliberately chosen silence because she wanted to move forward, find peace, and avoid being triggered by painful memories from her marriage.

Jelai previously opened up about experiencing depression during that difficult period of her life, which she said became so severe that she almost lost her life.

Despite choosing not to discuss the controversy publicly, Jelai emphasized that her silence should not be interpreted as agreement with the versions of events being circulated online.

“I believe this was my story, too, and I know the truth and I’m the one who experienced it. Marriage ko ’yun. Andun ako mismo. Ako ang andun. I know what really happened,” she said.

Addressing the other party

Jelai also addressed the unnamed other party in her statement.

“Ginusto mo ’yan. Ginusto mong gumawa ng choices kahit alam mong may ibang taong masasaktan, may babaeng asawa na namamatay sa sakit, may kapwa ka babaeng na gabi-gabing umiiyak dahil sa ginagawa niyo at may asawang babae na naghihinagpis at nagkwe-question ng worth niya, at alam mo na may marriage na masisira,” she said.

“Nasa edad ka naman na para malaman ang tama at mali. Hindi ka naman grade school. Those are basic values we learn while growing up, tinuro ’yan ng mga magulang natin or ng mga nakakatanda,” she added.

Jelai went on to recall the emotional toll the situation allegedly took on her, saying she was undergoing treatment and repeatedly visiting the hospital while the alleged affair was taking place.

“Nasaktan ka pero that doesn’t give you a free pass from accountability. Nagga-gamot ako noon at pabalik-balik sa hospital, halos mamatay ako, while kayo naglalandian lang sa bed namin ng ex-husband ko,” she said.

“Yes, dun ka din umuuwi kapag wala ako. Imagine that. Ang tagal na panahon na nangyayari ’yun na wala akong kaalam-alam,” she added.

Jelai also claimed that she felt she was being ganged up on at the time, but said she has since moved on from the painful experience.

“Pinagtutulungan niyo pa nga ako, remember. Pero tapos na ’yun. Masaya na ako ngayon at super thankful dahil nakawala ako sa ganung sitwasyon na ’yon. Sobrang natauhan na ako. Salamat sa Diyos. I’m grateful dahil binigay ni God ang pinapangarap kong annulment,” she said.

“Ayoko talaga magsalita kasi super happy naman na ako pero meron na namang lumabas na maling-maling story ngayon, so parang for the first time seryoso kong magsasalita. The lesson is simple: learn from the consequences,” she added.

Pregnancy rumor

Toward the end of her statement, Jelai appeared to address a long-standing rumor involving the other party's pregnancy.

“And just to clear one more thing: SHE WASN’T a minor when she had those children,” Jelai said.

She then stressed that this would be the last time she would publicly discuss the controversy.

“This is the last time I’ll speak about this. I’ve said what I needed to say. Let this be the lesson to young girls and women, STAY AWAY from married men or kahit sino na may partner, na 'wag tayong makihati,” she said.

“You can never change what really happened,” she added.

On Xian Gaza

Jelai also addressed social media personality Xian Gaza, who recently shared a different version of the controversy.

“To Xian: most probably iba ang naikwento sa’yo na story. MALI-mali, eh. And I understand that this is your work and she’s also your friend. Appreciate that you acknowledged my pain and burden before as a wife,” she said.

“But please next time, ask me directly para equal ang source mo, hindi lang isang side at maling story ang kakalat from you,” Jelai added.

Jelai ended her statement by reiterating that she has already moved forward from the controversy and is grateful to have closed that chapter of her life through the annulment of her marriage.
