The light of Christmas

This Christmas comes like a shaft of bright light in the dark months we’ve had. Whew, a tsunami of massive corruption devastatingly descended upon us these last few months! They have caused perennial flooding, loss of livelihood, even loss of thousands of lives which, actually, is a direct assault on human rights! In addition, it spawned humiliation and embarrassment for us across the globe.

In the midst of rallies and demonstrations and outpouring of demands of the Filipinos for transparency, integrity, accountability – the magic of the Christmas spirit has greatly diminished. The people impatiently await to have ALL that were stolen taken back, and the corrupt politicians, officials, contractors put behind bars!

For there is no greater tragedy than that perpetrated by elected politicians, appointed officials under the shield of the law, manipulating it to commit their crimes.

My sincere wish this Christmas that is unlike past Christmases – special happiness in this season of love, hope and joy for every Filipino family. And for our beloved Motherland, may all our wishes of justice, accountability, transparency, lasting peace … come true. For our kababayans, prosperity that is shared and enjoyed by ALL… be granted!
