What now, what next?
These are questions often asked after the November 30 protest rallies vs. corruption where the Filipino people’s shouts and demands clearly, unequivocably wanted the corrupt to be jailed and for the stolen public funds to be returned soonest.
The protesting thousands all over the country have been expecting and continue to await good faith and significant immediate movement from the present government vs. the corrupt and the stolen trillions.
Surely, the BBM government recognizes that the patience of thousands of furious Filipinos who rallied cannot be stretched any further and indefinitely.
The Filipino public is not content with recent reports that mention the recommendations of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to the Ombudsman for the filing of charges against those allegedly involved in flood-control project corruption.
Still furious, the Filipino people expect not only “small fries” in government agencies to be charged but the “big fishes,” those in top government executive and legislative posts to be announced, effectively prosecuted and finally convicted soonest, no more, no less.
Will the Filipino people’s cries be heard and will the truly guilty of corruption from top government especially be finally jailed soon, this month?
Will BBM government also share the so-far retrieved stolen money from some corrupt with the Filipino people, the real owner of the stolen funds, especially those among them most affected adversely by the anomalous flood projects of the corrupt?
BBM will be viewed as acting not only in good faith but for the interest of the people IF he takes definite, decisive steps to return, to redistribute retrieved flood control project funds BACK to the people, especially to those most needing these resources this month of Christmas!
BBM had just raised the salaries of the military and uniformed personnel. Cannot BBM raise everyone’s minimum wage as well?
Or cannot BBM declare a tax holiday for all the Filipino taxpayers whose funds were selfishly, unashamedly siphoned by the corrupt into their own personal pockets?
Yes to a moratorium on VAT and excise tax this December!
Allowing every Filipino taxpayer to avail of retrieved stolen flood control project funds will ensure not only the widely-contested DTI ?500 Noche Buena package but more food for every Filipino even just once this December, this Christmas season!
Sharing government funds this December with the Filipinos for much-needed food, for wages, for health and welfare services will provide not only leverage but growing political strength and stability for BBM and his party which power-driven factions still want to disrupt and end.
The BBM government may want to redistribute the retrieved millions of stolen flood-control funds through the Church’s CARITAS instead of the regular DSWD-Barangay network to ensure a more credible, transparent, non-politicized all-embracing distribution system.
The various groups of rallyists are now in evaluation mode, planning their next set of local/nationwide actions/ partnerships.
What now, what next?
For now, a transitional interlude of peace this December?
Definitely, many are remaining in full trust that “God gives His peace to those who entrust their lives/concerns to Him,” and vigilantly discerning/awaiting the coming of God’s promise/plan/action for our people, for our nation, guided by Isaiah 26:1-6:
“On that day they will sing this song in the land of Judah: A strong city have we; he sets up walls and ramparts to protect us. Open up the gates to let in a nation that is just, one that keeps faith. A nation of firm purpose you keep in peace; in peace, for its trust in you.
“Trust in the Lord forever! For the Lord is an eternal Rock. He humbles those in high places, and the lofty city he brings down; He tumbles it to the ground, levels it with the dust. It is trampled underfoot by the needy, by the footsteps of the poor.”
