No such thing
Just a few days after Vice President Sara Duterte released a video on the internet where she cursed President Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez, she is now saying she was "maliciously taken out of logical context". But when you curse someone out, can you say it was uttered out of context so as not to offend the recipient? Will you accuse everyone who heard it of having malicious thoughts? She also claims she did not threaten the president because she had no reason to do so unless she was the first to be killed. Isn’t that a threat as well?
President Marcos has responded to this recent outburst of the vice president. What is noteworthy is that he said he would be defiant about the threat to his life and the life of his family as it should be. Anyone who is threatened in that way would act the same. Duterte also reacted strongly to the National Security Council (NSC) statement that all threats to the president's life are "serious and a matter of national security." She said she wanted to see all the documents of the NSC meeting and why she was not invited if she was a member. Could it be because she is the one threatening?
The DOJ is studying all of Duterte's legal and criminal responsibilities because of her threat. The DOJ also refuted the reasoning of VP Duterte and Sen. Dela Rosa that the threat is conditional. According to the DOJ, a threat is a threat. No such thing as a conditional threat. This is not the first time Duterte has expressed that she wants to hurt the president. She said then that she daydreamed of wanting to behead Marcos. Let's not forget her statement that if attacks against her would not stop, she would dig up the body of Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and dump it into the West Philippine Sea.
Duterte’s anger towards the president and his family is clear. What else could she say in the coming days? I wouldn't be surprised if the government gradually monitors her statements. She has been served a subpoena by the NBI to explain her threats to the president. We’ll see where it goes from here. But I’m not holding my breath. Threats to life are no joke. That's why bomb jokes are always taken seriously by airport authorities. One should always think before speaking as it's hard to take back words that have been spoken, especially recorded ones.
