Why am I running?

HOTSPOT - Mocha Uson - The Philippine Star

When I resigned from my government position, I promised to bring the fight of the ordinary Filipino to the battleground they deserve. I am keeping true to that promise, and that is exactly why I decided to run in the upcoming 2019 elections.

It was not an easy choice. Indeed, I am not denying that I have been receiving massive support from people and groups who believe in my capacities to help bring to fruition the goals of the Duterte administration, and this is my primary way of giving back. I cannot let them down, especially now that the battleground has finally opened its doors.

I am running for a seat in Congress, representing AA Kasosyo Party-list. I chose this particular party because we both share the same visions for Filipinos who are struggling to change their lives for the better. AA Kasosyo Party-list seeks to support Filipinos in achieving their idea of sustainable development, i.e. through livelihood and entrepreneurship programs that Filipinos can utilize and enjoy.

I likewise believe in the social change that AA Kasosyo Party-list aims to instill to Filipinos. Through its programs, it aspires for Filipinos to make good use of their earnings so that they can be financially independent and not grow old dependent on paychecks. It is because this scenario has become a cycle among Filipinos, especially among OFWs. They, our modern day heroes, sacrifice their lives away from their loved ones to work abroad and earn a decent income. And yet, despite being of great help to the economy by means of their remittances, no concrete programs are available to support their welfare once they come back home.

I was an OFW once, and I have experienced this plight firsthand. And I want this to end. I want to see my fellow Filipinos enjoying their time with their loved ones without the need to work and live away from each other anymore, and this can only be done by providing them with adequate support primarily in livelihood and entrepreneurship.

I also see that with AA Kasosyo Party-list represented in Congress, I will be able to further speak on behalf of millions of ordinary Filipinos whose voices are often left unheard. I can air their grievances that are definitely of great aid to legislation, including issues being brushed off by other lawmakers who are in power to satisfy their own goals.

And yes, I am running to fight back against traditional politicians who are not only corrupt, but blatantly use their power in government to accomplish their selfish, self-serving goals. These include trapos who are at the same time plotting against the system by being terrorist sympathizers. They have no place in government, as they are not even thinking about the Filipinos who have believed and supported them, but are only after bringing to life their leftist agenda.

I firmly believe that change doesn’t happen overnight. Nor does it require a system overhaul like what some trapos in Congress are trying to instill to the public. Change begins with the individual mindset. It starts with the burning passion to make life better, one step at a time, and with support from the government always at hand. This is what I want us, Filipinos, to realize. And this is exactly why I am running.

I have filed my certificate of candidacy yesterday, October 15, 2018. Expect that the enemies will try to malign my character and AA Kasosyo Party-list. With your help, I am confident that they are not going to succeed. This is not just my fight. This is our fight. I am but a mere voice for all the ordinary Filipinos who deserve to be heard.

On that note, I’d like to say that the real battle has just begun.
