Dear President Noynoy
You are probably still continuing to ask God why the Mamasapano Massacre had to happen and why you are at the center of this issue. You may also have told God, too, that challenges, like this recent one, were among the reasons why you were reluctant to run for and be president?
You made your decision to run for president after you went through a spiritual retreat. We do not know what God told you then during your moments with Him, but for sure, during that retreat, you were convinced to run, for God and His people. Your discernment during that spiritual dialogue spurred you to accept the call for presidency and millions of our people, in turn, accepted and elected you as president.
This present Mamapasano controversy calls for you to take full responsibility as Commander in Chief , one responsibility attached to the presidency. Just as the burden of deciding about whether to run as president or not was heavy for you alone to carry, you chose then to lift that burden to God for Him to guide you through your decision, to clearly discern your role to serve and honor God. You may already have done so but if not, this may be another timely moment to go on spiritual retreat again to discern God's will for you related to this Mamapasano massacre?
It is Lenten Season and you can request the churches and all Filipinos to join you pray for spiritual guidance about how God wants you to handle this present challenge in a manner that will continue to honor and serve God and His people.
Going, doing it alone cannot be a choice. You may already have learned this important, very valuable lesson, especially with the Mamapasano massacre. What could have been a major military and anti-terrorist successful operation to you and those with you in this venture did not turn out to be. You are probably asking God why, instead, we lost so many lives of our young soldiers and why the operation did not turn out as you expected?
God may also be asking you, in turn, if you had consulted Him ahead, if you have gone into a spiritual dialogue with Him to guide you to discern what best to do about this military operation? Did you try to listen to His voice before the Mamapasano venture, as you did at the start of your decision process to become president? Did you hear His voice and did you heed His voice over and above the voices of others nearest to you during the planning and execution of this military operation?
As your parents, Ninoy and Cory, were very spiritual persons themselves and very closely in constant dialogue with God, we are sure that they have tried to share this spiritual legacy with you and your siblings. And so, with due respect, Mr. President, we are reminding you about this very important spiritual link with God that you can tap into so that you can be guided to take the decision and action that God wants you to take, to best serve Him and His people.
It may be a decision that will ask you to carry a heavier cross than what you have carried so far for the Lord and His people. God's guidance may be very severe to accept as a person, as a president, as a believer. However, your parents will be the first to remind you that siding with God, allowing God to take over, obeying God's advice will always be the same–" If anyone should come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross, and follow, follow Me."
All things happen for a reason. Be assured, however, that God promised in Jeremiah 29:11–" For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." As long as you stay with the Lord, the Truth, the Way and the Life, God will be with you tomorrow, just as He was with you in the past and at present.
Do please ask our whole nation to join you in a national Lenten Season of prayer and may God's presence and guidance be with you through your spiritual retreat which we pray you will have soon, so that God's peace and truth, God's will and grace be with us all in this country.
