Boy Scouts: The youth needs it for the future

For our special presentation on our talkshow Straight from the Sky, we bring you a sequel to our show last week about natural farming. This time we bring you the fundamentals of natural healing. With us today is Dr. Jaime Dy-Liacco, a Doctor of Metabolic Medicine. I learned from this interview that he is the only doctor specializing on this field of medicine.

Dr. Dy-Liacco was brought to Cebu by the Redemptorist Community for his natural healing mission free of charge as he attributes this healing not by his own self but rather it is the Holy Spirit guiding him to heal people. God after all is the greatest healer of all. He goes around the country giving out lectures on natural healing.

I too am a personal witness to this as I am a diabetic. After Dr. Dy-Liacco told me to take raw eggs and chopped sililabuyo with banana sab-ah, my blood sugar dropped to 99 without taking my diabetes medicines. The next day I checked my blood sugar again it was 103. These were numbers that I never got when I was taking my daily diabetic medicines. Dr. Dy-Liacco has Natural Healing solution even on cancer patients, which means a huge savings in medical cost and that is a huge consideration. After all we believe in that dictum that health is wealth.

We even talked about the non-benefits of drinking bottled water vis-à-vis tap water. Bottled water as you know is nothing but processed water brought into reverse osmosis, which means it removes the minerals that your body needs. Dr. Dy-Liacco says that man is 70 percent  made of water and if we are drinking water sans the minerals that we need to replenish our bodies, it is no wonder why people are getting sick even at a young age.

I’m sure that the giant pharmaceuticals are not appreciative of the work of Dr. Dy-Liacco. But in this day and age where pharmaceuticals are making tons of money using synthetic medicine, many of which don’t even work anymore, perhaps it is God’s plan to bring in people like Dr. Dy-Liacco to teach us the wonders of natural healing. Last Friday noon, I went to the Cebu Cultural Center at the University of the Philippines (UP) Campus in Lahug to witness the oathtaking ceremonies of the newly-elected officers of the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines Cebu Council (BSP-CC) led by my very good friend, Council Chairman Hernando Streegan and Cebu Governor HilarioDavide, III with Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale, all in their Scouts uniform.

I have always supported the Boy Scouts of the Philippines not because my maternal grandfather, Capt. Valeriano Jamal Segura, was one of its founders way back in the 1930s where he was also one of the founders of the Cebu Rotary Club but because it is for me the most important activity a young boy can do during his formative years. The Scout’s Motto “Be Prepared” is a great motto that our youth should embrace. Though I was only a Cub Scout (Because of PMT and ROTC) I exhort all our youth to join the Boy Scouts because it is the best training to prepare our youth for the future.

I was also amazed that during his acceptance speech as Honorary Scout, Gov. Jun Jun Davide memorized the Scout’s law…”Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and Reverent.” If he follows this law, we will have a good governor for Cebu.

It was truly a shocking news that our dear friend, a fellow Rotarian who was a Past President of the Rotary Club of Cebu, Oscar “Jun” Jereza, Jr. had suddenly left us as God finally called him to his bosom. Jun was a long time ground staff with the Philippine Airlines (PAL) until he joined his family business as Vice President for Administration at the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF).

His widow, Mrs. Odette Jereza told me that Jun had suffered a massive heart attack while inside his car at the Gaisano Country Mall around 3:00pm Saturday afternoon. What can we say? Death is indeed like a thief in the night. It comes to you even when you don’t expect it to happen. This is why our Lord Jesus Christ exhorts us to always be prepared in the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins for we know not the hour when the bridegroom comes.

During our Rotary meetings, Jun Jereza (he is one of the original members of the Viscounts Band in the 60s) is always ready to belt out old 60s songs when asked to make our Rotary fellowship lively. That’s what he was doing last Thursday and now he is gone. Jun was also an active member of the BukasLoobsaDiyos Covenanted (BLD) community where he sang at the choir. May we request our pious readers to please pray for the repose of his soul.
