Expensive food for the poor

THE EAR - The Philippine Star

FOOD WASTED. “Food Being Wasted Yet Millions Starve,” says this TF headline. In one Asean City there is a group of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who has been carrying on a campaign to save food for the poorest of the poor. Members of this group collect “uneaten and untouched” food from Class-A restaurants to be given to poor citizens, some of who could hardly eat a meal a day.

CEBUANO MEMBER.  A Cebuano member of this group who happens to be The Ear's informer said some of the collected food even the members of his group could not afford. “Apan gikalipay namo ang magtan-aw sa mga pobre nga namakaon sab og mahalong pagkaon,” our informer said. Our informer said his group operates mainly in high class eateries because this is were a lot of “good food are being wasted.”
