Angry penitent

FLAGELLANT. A Good Friday penitent made quite a spectacle last Friday noon while carrying a wooden cross on Osmeña Blvd. (Jones Ave.). He suddenly dropped his cross and chased a man who beat him hard. The man was not part of the group who acted as “centurions.”

TOUGHIE. The cross bearer was a waterfront toughie fulfilling a yearly vow to carry a cross as his way to repent for his sins. The Ear informer said the penitent told him the “intruder” beat him hard with a billiard cue. “Wa siya'y labot. Niapil lang sa mga kauban ko nga way pupananghid ug gibunalan ko sa tako ka duha,” the penitent told an Ear informer.
