Seashells and coco shells

THE EAR - The Philippine Star

PERMIT NEEDED. A foreign tourist who tried to bring home some seashells and clam shells for souvenir was prevented from bringing the shells home unless he secured a permit from a government office. Rather than go through the hustle of securing the needed permit, he decided to throw away the shells.

EVEN COCO SHELLS? The same foreign tourist said he had purchased some souvenir items made of coconut shells but decided to leave them to his tourist guide when he was told that a permit was also needed to bring out souvenir items made of coco shells. Actually, this informant wasn’t sure about coco shell products needing a permit but to prevent getting in trouble, he decided not to bring home the souvenir items made of coconut shell.
