Better for boxing judges to watch TV

Those two boxing judges who didn’t see how Manny Pacquiao punished Tim Bradley should’ve watched the fight on their TV sets.

The Sydney Morning Herald published by Fairfax, Australia’s media giant, is shifting from broadsheet to tabloid size. (Welcome to the club!) This is a “landmark event” they say for the Herald which was founded in 1881.

Why, what happened to the Herald, one of the most respected newspapers in Australia? The “very challenging times” is the explanation given by Chief Exec Greg Hywood.

I have sentimental feelings for the Herald. I used to write feature articles for it as a freelance correspondent. And many of the stories I wrote for the Gemini News Service of London found space in many Aussie papers mostly the Herald.

Also shifting from broadsheet to tabloid size is another prominent Australian daily, The Age of Melbourne, which was founded in 1854. The newspaper business Down Under must be in pretty bad shape.
