Sentimental visit by a Japanese war veteran

- The Ear -

SENTIMENTAL VISIT. A 91-year-old former solider of the Japanese Imperial Army made what an Ear informer called a sentimental journey to Cebu last month. He was accompanied by his grandson, who now holds an important position in a car company in the Philippines. He visited places in Cebu where he used to frequent while a soldier of his country.

“BIG CHANGE.” He told his grandson that there has been a big change in Cebu and that he could no longer identify the places he frequented except the Sto. Niño church, which he called “San Agustin.” He often visited this church, being a Catholic. He remembers the tartanillas, which are no longer around. He could not anymore locate the school where he was stationed “near the sea.”
