Let the thief keep the Bible he stole

The Senate will continue to probe the Arroyos despite their being reportedly sick. “God bless them,” said a priest in his homily. Bless the Arroyos or the Senators?

 “The problem with the Philippines is that it is peopled with pessimists,” a business writer said in a Hong Kong newspaper. What is a pessimist? Someone has described a pessimist as a person who finds difficulty with every solution.

An ordinance against local tabloids is in the making. Since it is said to be only against the Cebu tabloids (“mga gagmay’ng pamantalaan,” according to a news reporter),that means that Manila tabloids flooding the local newsstands can go unmolested.

 “Not long, a member of the Azkals posed in his skimpy briefs,” writes a reader who didn’t want to be identified because of Capitol connection. “The blown up frontal photos showed his sex organs covered. But it’s there, protruding between his covered thighs.”

E-mail from Dr. Jessie Magno: “Please tell me, Mr. Jabat, whose responsibility is it to fix the rotten roads in the North Reclamation Area? I passed by some of these roads there and I saw many of them in the state of disrepair.”

Dr. Magno said: “These dilapidated roads (muddy during the rainy season) do not speak well of the city’s leadership today and yesterday. Maybe the leadership of tomorrow can do better but that still depends on the kind of people we put in City Hall.”

I have it on good authority that the maintenance of the roads in the North Reclamation Area is the responsibility of the National Government. Right or wrong, I don’t know, but it’s the people who live in this city who are suffering from the holey condition of the roads.

It says here that the cops are looking for the man who stole a lay minister’s Holy Bible. Maybe it would be well to let the thief keep the Bible. It might cause him to change for the better.
