Popular people made to vote first even without priority numbers

AHEAD OF THE LINE. The Ear heard that in an elementary school in Labangon, a popular basketball player was made to vote ahead of the other people who have patiently waited for their turn for hours. That Monday afternoon, when this basketball player arrived, he was immediately escorted to the precinct, skipping the lone line, and was welcomed by the teachers. Before he could vote, however, many people inside the precinct posed for picture taking. This made the other people waiting in line very upset. A voter muttered, “Kay abi sikat man, gipa una.”

SENIOR CITIZENS’ LINE NEEDED. Many people also got upset that even though they have waited for hours for their turn to vote, senior citizens were given priority. A voter in his late 50’s said, “Kapuy baya kaayo og huwat, unya inig abot sa mga senior citizens, pa-unahon. Gamay ra baya ang diperensya sa among edad.” Another woman voter said, “Ah, wala man gani ko nag-ingon nga bag-o pa ko nanganak. Dapat unahon pud ko uy.” A suggestion of another voter: “Dapat lahi na ilang oras o lahi ilang linya kay sila maoy nakapadugay sa among pagbotar.”
