Old-timer compares Sinulog then and now

SINULOG THEN AND NOW. An Ear source said the Sinulog grand parade during his time was so different from what we have today.Back then, the source said the spectators were not as numerous and parade organizers did not even bother to field boy scouts, and CAT and ROTC cadets to hold the crowd at bay. There were no sponsorships, no TV or radio spots and products riding on the festivity. He also said feathered Sinulog hats were made with such craftsmanship and care, with feather trails sometimes reaching the ground, not like the cheap halfheartedly-made reproductions that do not even last a day.Most import of all, he said the solemn procession was held more important than the grand parade.
