Crooked cabbie of Cebu

DISHONEST DRIVERS. A woman account executive told The Ear that she was duped when she took a cab from Manalili to a mall at the north reclamation area. Last Thursday evening, she took a cab with a friend. When they got to the mall, she handed a P100 bill to the driver who looked to be in his late 40s. She didn’t realize that her friend also handed the driver a P100 bill. When her friend said, “Uy, nibayad na ko,” she asked the driver to hand back her P100 bill but the driver replied, “Pataka ka man lang. Wala ka nihatag nako’g kuwarta uy.”

PARTING SHOT. She argued that she only had two P100 bills and gave one to the driver. She even showed to the driver her wallet where she took the bill from. Her companion also said she saw her friend hand over money to the cabbie, the reason why she told her friend she already paid the cabbie. But the driver wouldn’t give her money back. Furious but feeling helpless, they said they had no choice but to get off. In her anger, she gave the cabbie a parting shot: “Gabaan ra unta kang tiguwanga ka!”
