Child asks his mother: Is that nun selling ice cream?

- The Ear -

PASSING BELLS. After the 7PM mass at the Basilica del Sto. Niño last night, two nuns passed through the crowd bringing with them the host. One nun was ringing the bell as they walked. Upon hearing the bell, a small boy of about five years old turned towards his mother, tugged at her arm then pointed at the passing nuns. He asked his mother: “Baligya na’g ice cream ang madre, Ma?”

EDUCATING KIDS. The mother answered, “Di na ice cream Dong. Kalawat nang ilang gidala.” The small boy persisted with, “Di uy, ice cream lagi na gidala sa madre. Nagtiling-tiling gud.” The exasperated mother said, “Ay, hurot na man ilang ice cream. Adto na lang ta palit sa gawas.” The small boy was appeased. The Ear informer who heard this later commented that the Church needs to educate the public about the meaning or significance behind Church activities so parents could in turn educate their children.
