The case of two American-looking Pinoys

- The Ear -

CEBUANO-SPEAKING. Two high school girls got the shock and embarrassment of their lives when they commented within hearing distance of a man who looked every inch a Caucasian. “Kaguwapo sa Kano, kun iya kong panguyaban sugton ko dayon siya bisan wangguti na,” said one of the  girls. The man smiled and said: “Tinuod ka, Day? Kun panguyaban tika ron sugton ko nimo?”  The man happened to be a GI baby (born during the liberation period with an American father and Filipina mother) and could speak Cebuano like a native. The two girls could only say: “Ngee. Hehehe!”

SIMILAR INCIDENT.  An almost similar incident happened at the waterfront area not long ago. An American-looking man had just come down from a ship from Bohol when he was approached by a taxi driver who said: “Joe, you want a good time? I have girls for you. Young, pretty...” The man said: “Samok diha, nagdali ko.” He happened to be another Kano-looking Pinoy.
