SENIOR CITIZEN "INSULTED". A retired landscape artist now in his 70s was reading a newspaper in a shopping mall when a woman sat on an adjoining chair and engaged him in a conversation. Later, the woman offered him a sachet containing a herbal powder intended for men who could no longer do it. The old man felt insulted. "Unsay hunahuna mo nako nag-menopause na? Basin nya'g patilawon tika," the man said. The woman stood up and walked away.
SMALL COINS UNWANTED. Those small denomination coins - from the 5-centavo to the 25-centavo - are looked down with disfavor by many people, including PUJ drivers and even beggars. A nursing school teacher said she paid her jeepney fare in small denomination coins. The driver accepted the coins but remarked: "Wa nay laing binlod diha?" A beggar called the loose change "dugmok nga kuwarta." A campaign against those who belittle the loose coins seems in order.
