Another honor for Cebu

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -
A reader says there was a "slight error" in an item in The Ear column last week. So sorry. But didn't they say to Ear is human?

It says here that the young Japanese, grandsons of the world War II Jap generation, are bringing Japan to greater heights today. Japan is now The Land of the Rising Sons.

They say some left-leaning congressman are passing part of their pork barrel to communist organizations. Anomalous this kind of passing the buck.

The Sandiganbayan has ruled that four big companies of Dr. Lucio Tan, seized by the government, be returned to him. A follow-up to this story said: "Tan Welcomes Sandigan Ruling." An observer said: "Ang-ang, iyang supakon?"

"Our people may be poor but they are an industrious lot," says a radio commentator. Reminds me of what my favorite humor writer Bob Philips once said. "The poor have to work so hard making a living, they have no time to get rich."
* * *
That's what I am. I work so hard to make a living, I haven't found the time to get rich!
* * *
Bob Philips also once said: "The easiest way to remain poor is to pretend to be rich." Some Pinoy politicians do it the other way around. They remain rich by pretending they are poor.

Seriously now, there's another Cebuano who has brought honor not only to himself and Cebu but to the nation as well. He is Christopher Go, a young amateur astronomer. Christopher has been reported by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the US as having discovered a new Red Spot on the Planet Jupiter.
* * *
Christopher's discovery has made a NASA scientist exclaim "Wow!" knowing as he did that this discovery can contribute immensely to NASA'S never-ending study of space. I join the NASA people in paying tribute to fellow Cebuano Christopher Go! And in exclaiming "Wow!"
