LTFRB flags data breach

MANILA, Philippines — A data breach in the electronic support system of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has been confirmed by the National Privacy Commission.

The NPC said it received the LTFRB’s data breach notification on Sept. 13.

“As of now, we’re waiting for clearance to disclose full details of the notification. We will provide updates once available,” Roren Marie Chin, chief of the NPC Public Information and Assistance Division, said.

The LTFRB is coordinating with the NPC, Department of Information and Communications Technology as well as the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center to validate affected data and restore operations.
