Man held in Pasig for sextortion

MANILA, Philippines — A man who was arrested in Pasig City is facing a slew of criminal cases for allegedly making public the sex videos of his former girlfriend.
The police Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) filed charges of grave coercion, grave threat as well as violations of Republic Act 9262, the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act, and the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Law, in relation to RA 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act, against the suspect.
ACG director Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang said the suspect, identified by police only as Jayjay, was nabbed on March 26 based on a complaint of his 24-year-old former girlfriend who accused him of sextortion.
After the couple broke up, the victim said the suspect started distributing their explicit videos to her relatives and friends.
When she confronted Jayjay, the suspect said he would delete the videos if she would meet with him in person.
The victim sought the ACG’s help, which initiated an entrapment operation against the suspect.
“We are committed to ensuring that those who exploit and threaten others are held accountable and brought to justice,” Yang said.
