Couple, grandson killed; 2 suspects arrested

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – An elderly couple and their grandson were killed after unidentified gunmen opened fire at their hut in Indang, Cavite on Tuesday.

The fatalities – identified only as Franco, 63; his wife, Juanita, 62, and their four-year-old grandson – were declared dead on arrival in a hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds.

The incident, which occurred at around 10:50 p.m., was reported to police at past midnight.

Responding police officers found the fatalities bloodied inside their hut in Barangay Dane 1.

Police yesterday said they have arrested two suspects in separate follow-up operations in Indang and Trece Martires.

Col. Ariel Red, Cavite police director, withheld the identities of the suspects pending results of investigation and filing of a criminal complaint against them.

One of the suspects was arrested a few hours after the crime through the help of witnesses. The second suspect was arrested in Trece Martires yesterday.

Probers are eyeing an old grudge as the motive for the killing.
