Caraga workers get pay hike
MANILA, Philippines — Minimum wage earners and domestic workers in Caraga region are receiving increases in their take-home pay, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced yesterday.
In a statement, DOLE said the National Wages and Productivity Commission has affirmed the wage order increasing the minimum wage rate in Caraga, which is comprised of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur provinces.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) recently issued a motu proprio order granting an increase of P50 in the daily wage, to be given in two tranches.
Private sector workers will receive the first tranche of P30 in January 2025 and the remaining P20 adjustment by May 2025.
“This (wage increase) brings the daily minimum wage from P385 to P415 across all sectors upon effectivity and from P415 to P435 upon implementation of the second tranche on May 1, 2025,” the DOLE said.
Under the same order, the RTWPB also approved an increase of P1,000 for domestic workers in the region, bringing their monthly pay to P6,000.
A total of 65,681 minimum wage earners and over 32,000 domestic workers are expected to benefit from the increase.
