CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Three people including a pregnant woman died while five others were injured in a collision involving a car and a minivan in Tagaytay, Cavite before dawn on Tuesday.

Two of the fatalities – identified only as Jem, driver of a Toyota Corolla, and his pregnant companion, Jena – died at the scene of the accident that occurred at around 12:50 a.m. in Barangay Zambal.

Jena’s partner, Josh, was declared dead on arrival at the Tagaytay Hospital.

The injured victims, who were in a minivan, were rushed to the Alfonso Hospital for treatment.

Police said the van tried to overtake, causing it to collide with the Corolla.

Probers said the 18-year old van driver was reportedly drunk.

Police said charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, damage to property and driving under the influence of liquor would be filed against the van driver.
