LPA to dump rain over Luzon areas

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) spotted in La Union will bring rain and thunderstorms over several parts of Luzon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA said that as of 3 p.m. yesterday, the LPA was located 170 kilometers west of Bacnotan town.
Although it has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, state meteorologists said the LPA would still dump moderate to heavy rain in affected areas.
Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are forecast over Metro Manila as well as Bataan, Batangas, Cavite, La Union, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Pangasinan and Zambales.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may occur during moderate to at times heavy rain.
Meanwhile, the intertropical convergence zone will affect Mindanao and parts of Eastern Visayas, bringing rain over Davao Occidental, Davao Oriental, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat and Surigao del Sur.
