8 hurt as LPG tank explodes

MANILA, Philippines — Eight people were injured after a defective liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank exploded in Sta. Cruz, Manila yesterday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection helped put out the fire at a house owned by Johnny Factor, 52, along Quezon Boulevard in Barangay 310 at past 8 a.m.

The fire was doused after nine minutes.

Jesus Torma, 50; Marivie Gandol, 48; Verlie Mae Salim, 35, and Marilyn Sabas, 43, suffered second-degree burns.

Angeline Alicanto, 16; three-year-old Chloe Ann Maso, and Jamaica Evangelista, 19, were treated for minor burns.

Factor was also injured in the incident.
