MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) assured the public yesterday that preparations for the May 2025 midterm polls are on track.

The Comelec made the statement following the withdrawal of one of the local partners of Miru Systems from the joint venture.

“So far so good. Miru Systems delivered almost all the peripherals to be used in the elections,” Comelec Chairman George Garcia said on Wednesday.

Earlier, former Caloocan congressman Edgar Erice filed a supplemental motion before the Supreme Court, saying St. Timothy Construction Corp. (STCC)’s withdrawal from the joint venture may compromise the 2025 elections.

The Comelec submitted to the high court a manifestation of the withdrawal of STCC, Garcia said.

The poll body also informed the high tribunal that the remaining local partners of Miru submitted a net financial contracting capacity of P20 billion, up from the required P18 billion.

The Comelec also said the delivery of supplies, equipment and other paraphernalia to be used in the elections would start soon.

F2 Logistics has been ordered by the poll body to proceed with the delivery provided under its contract with the Comelec.

F2 Logistics bagged the deal for P685.998 million for the deployment of election paraphernalia, including the provision of warehousing services for next year’s elections.
